The Bump in the Rug

There was a lonely old man that lived in a dark house. It was said by all his neighbors that after his wife died he went a little crazy. Sounds were often heard from his house at night, loud thumps and bangs and the occasional curse. Little did his neighbors know what was really going on in 122 Maple Street.

The rumors said he killed his wife and remained alone out of guilt. Truthfully his wife died of a witchcraft experiment gone wrong. She was trying to raise the spirit of the deceased family cat, and got more than she bargained for. Instead she awoke the spirit of the Killer Kat, a cat who had killed every family it had ever been with.

After his wife died, the old man took on the quest to take out Killer Kat, even though Killer Kat was now undead. Every night the struggle would continue. Back and forth they would battle endlessly, using claws and cables, and teeth and chairs. Neither could gain the upper hand for the longest time.

One night the old man set a trap for Killer Kat. It was a clever electrical trap that used positively charged electrons to combat the negative spectral energy that made up Killer Kat. When the Kat showed up that night he was immediately taken out by the clever trap. Killer Kat struggled for a moment, then vanished into thin air.

The old man thought that the Kat was gone for good. However, two weeks passed and it happened again. This time the Kat came back stronger than ever. This time he wouldn’t be defeated so easily.

The battle that commenced was terrible and lasted all night. Both parties received numerous injuries and the Kat kept healing himself over and over. With the old man’s last breaths he said “My wife. I am sorry to have failed you. I am coming to meet you now.” Killer Kat had claimed yet another life.

The Kuest against Killer Kat Kontinues... Eventually the neighbors on the street found out the real reasons for the strangeness in 122 Maple Street. They have now joined the fight against the undead monster that threatens us all. It is imperative that we take out Killer Kat and his allies.

It seems that the witchcraft can hardly be undone by mere science. To take out Killer Kat for good, what is needed is a mix of science and magic.

The Pain

The dark night.
The light of a single star shines through the fog of this damp town.

I am alone.
There is no one here but me.
It is getting harder and harder to breathe.
The dark is closing in.

My world is tilted
seemingly off-kilter
everything is out of my control.
I need control.

The silver of steel
glints in the light of the moon.
It kisses my skin.
My skin cries
a single red tear
trickles down

With the light of day
I rise
like a tiger
the evidence of my pain
is shown as my stripes.

They say there are other ways
to fight the pain inside
but this is all I know.

Fight the pain inside with pain
without

Dedicated to all my friends who have the pain. To those who turn to pain and embrace it like a friend. I can be that friend. Search for those other ways that are there. They are there.
I promise.

My Favorite Short Story

My favorite short story is called a Piece of String. It's about a man who bends down to pick up a piece of string from the dirt and is accused of stealing a wallet. Eventually he dies while trying to prove his innocence. Guy de Maupassant
